High in the primoridal forests of the Canadian shield, trees and branches fall from the weight of accumulated snow. Some of these bits of wood find their way into the waters of Seal Creek and Hudson Bay. Stripped of bark by the actions of these rough waters and bleached by the sun, these common branches are turned into extraordinary works of art.

Driftwood carried by these Arctic rivers were often the main source of wood for Inuit and other Arctic populations living north of the tree line until they came into regular contact with European traders. Used for firewood, structures, and art, driftwood still plays an important part in Inuit culture.
